News

1st January 2022: Sadly my forthcoming gig at Dartford Folk Club is postponed for the second time…. Happy New Year!

17th July 2020: Another home video and an online gig…

27th June 2020: Home videos

Like many others I’ve been making some home videos.  Nothing fancy but nicely recorded… I’ve just uploaded the first one if you want to take a look.  It’s called “The Chisel, the Plane and the Lathe” and it’s from my 2020 album Winter Hill.

15th May 2020: Northwich Folk Club. Virtually a gig!

My last two gigs before lockdown were at the Woodman Folk Club and Chester Folk Club in mid March. Both were lovely events and felt very special to me. I think everyone realised a change was coming and really appreciating being there. Since then I’ve been missing gigging so was delighted to be asked to do a 30 minute virtual set at Northwich Folk Club on 15th May. The club has done a fantastic job of keeping their singers nights going via Zoom and since I was supposed to be the guest that night they asked me along. Click here to see it.

My new acoustic album Winter Hill is now available for download and streaming from Amazon / Apple Music / Google Play / Spotify/ Deezer. Of course you can still buy a physical copy: just click on the shop link.  Track listing

New album available now!

My new album “Friday Night Train Home” is now available via the website.  The official release date is 11th November but you can buy it from my online shop from today.   A download version will be available in the next few days.  Please listen to clips if you want to get an idea what it sounds like. I’m delighted with the album.  Dave Ellis and Boo Howard grace most tracks with their lovely playing and gorgeous backing vocals.  The album has been produced by Dave Ellis in his usual polished style.   Hope you like...

What are the chances?!

What are the chances?!

While on holiday in Skye with my Mum the other week we happened upon the Red Roof Cafe which is right at the other end of the island from the ferry or the bridge. It’s basically a tiny but very lovely cafe in the middle of nowhere. While we were eating our delicious cheese scones, I noticed that not only do they have live music at the Red Roof Cafe but their next guests are Tyde, who I’m supporting at Grayshott Folk Club in November… what are the...

Videos of City Girl and By The Way

Two new videos are now viewable on my video page (or on YouTube).  They’re showcasing two songs from my forthcoming album.  The two songs are City Girl and By The Way.  The videos were made earlier in the summer at Jackson’s Lane Community Centre, filmed by the London Music Video company.  I think they’ve done a great...

Knitting through Harry’s Eyes at Dartford Folk Club

Knitting through Harry’s Eyes at Dartford Folk Club

Had a lovely night at Dartford Folk Club on Tuesday.  We got the usual Dartford Folk Club welcome from Pam, Alan, Rob, Colin and the rest of the crew…. An added bonus was that I got to show the audience progress on my gray poncho by way of introduction to the Knitting Song.  Nobody else seems interested so I was desperate!   The evening also marked the world debut of “Harry’s Eyes”…. The very Harry who inspired the song was in the audience and luckily didn’t seem to take offence…. (it’s a VERY silly song which will appear on my new album in due...

A day’s filming

Last week I spent the day along with Dave & Boo and a film crew shooting the video to help promote my forthcoming album.    It was very exciting!   I’d hired Studio 1 at Jackson’s Lane Community Centre which is a beautiful room with great lighting.  More photos to be posted soon on the photo page once I’ve worked out how to make it work!  I should get the rough cut of the video within the next week or...

My new website

My new website

If you’re used to my old website you’ll notice that this one is both different and unfinished!  My computer recently crashed.  It’s a sad comment on modern life that it felt as if this event threw my whole life into disarray!  Amongst other things it meant I could no longer use the same software for my website so I’ve had to reconstruct the site from scratch… Still getting to grips with it but in the end it will hopefully be a bit more the sticky….  Hope you like...
