Strand Of Silver

What would you say if we called it a day?
There’s only so much a body can take
And I don’t know how to change what you feel
When my words don’t soothe you and my hands don’t heal
And everything I try to do is wrong
And patience fails and faith is gone

There’s a strand of silver in my hair
For every time you feel this way
If love is what you feel you need
Well this is what it really means
I see it now for what it is
It’s all that I can hope to give
It’s nothing more, nothing less than this.

I used to be the one who believed
That good love and time were all that we’d need
But I’ve seen these wounds
That don’t seem to heal
Bleeding and raw
Between these four walls
And if everything I do is not enough
Well I’m only flesh and I’m only blood

There’s a strand of silver in my hair
For every time you feel this way
If love is what you feel you need
Well this is what it really means
I see it now for what it is
It’s all that I can hope to give
It’s nothing more, nothing less than this.
