Driving Home

Early start this morning, I was eager to be gone
A good few miles behind me now, and the evening’s coming on
Driving home
Very nearly there now, I can see the lights ahead
This is where I lay me down, this is where I lay my head
Driving home - ooh drive home

The way I’m feeling this should be a soft top
And every head should turn to see me go
Everybody wonder why I’m riding in such style,
I say don’t you know, I’m just driving home

Going slow and steady, it’s not a race I have to win
And there is no-one beside me here to say which lane I should be in
Driving home - ooh drive home

Won’t be anybody waiting when I get there
But that won’t bring me down or lay me low
I’ve been lonely many times with someone by my side
So I hold my own - driving home

Cross the river as the light is fading slowly into night
It’s a sight that never ceases to amaze me - the city comes to life
And it’s perfect timing to be driving home

You could give me a silver sea or a shining band of gold
You could give me my lost love back but I would still be on this road
Driving home - ooh drive home

The way I’m feeling this should be a soft top
And every head should turn to see me go
Everybody wonder why I’m riding in such style,
I say don’t you know, I’m just driving home
