Hurricane

We went south in open skies
And drove all day with the sun in our eyes
But overnight the weather changed
And we woke up in heavy rain
And you can cross your fingers, hope it’s fine
But it won’t be sunny all the time

O but it really doesn’t matter if it’s raining
I can make heavy weather of the brightest day
And even when the storm is raging
You are the eye of my hurricane

Morning brings a leaden sky
And disappointment in your eyes
A rain that falls like bitter tears
I’ve been building up for years and years
And once it starts it won’t let up
You’d almost say it’s never going to stop

O but it really doesn’t matter if it’s raining
I can make heavy weather of the brightest day
And even when the storm is raging
You are the eye of my hurricane

In the stillness of the evening
Softer breezes dry my tears
In the night I hear you breathing
Bless the storm that brought me here

In the silence of the dawn
On the edge of conscious thought
Calmest sound I’ve ever heard,
The comfort of a whispered word

But through your eyes I see the glass
Pressure rising hard and fast
Feel the pulse run through my veins
Rising like a hurricane...

O but it really doesn’t matter if it’s raining
I can make heavy weather of the brightest day
And even when the storm is raging
You are the eye of my hurricane
