Dancing With You

I’ve seen you dancing when you dance alone
With a step that’s as graceful as any I’ve known
And I’ve seen you silently standing aside
With everyone round you moving in time
When I’m away from you I hope you know
There’s no-one to touch you or even come close
And trying to change you was never my way
But if ever I had to, I know what I’d say

Give me your hand, it’s all in the sound and the rhythm
It starts with your feet, I’ll follow your lead
Soon we’ll be dancing like you won’t believe.
Don’t feel a fool ‘cos there’s nothing to know
Just give yourself up to it, let yourself go
No-one will notice, cos they’re dancing too
So give me your hand - I’m proud to be dancing with you.

Sometimes we fight like there’s nothing to lose
And words are the weapons that twist in our wounds
And I wonder what made us the way that we are
The bricks and the mortar, the shape of our scars
And all of this baggage we carry around
Is heavy as lead but it’s hard to put down
There’s only so much you can try to explain
And words are just words, at the end of the day

Give me your hand, it’s all in the sound and the rhythm
It starts with your feet, I’ll follow your lead
Soon we’ll be dancing like you won’t believe
Don't turn me down, turn me round and around,
The souls of my feet won't be touching the ground
And talking's done everything talking can do
So give me your hand - I’d rather be dancing with you.
